Black Ops Outsells Modern Warfare 2 By 33%, Becomes 7th Biggest Game of All Time
In its first 30-days of availability Call of Duty: Black Ops has outsold its predecessor, Modern Warfare 2, by a whopping 33%. Considering Modern Warfare 2 managed to sell to the tune of 6 million copies in its debut month combined on all platforms, Black Ops’ 8.4 million copies in the same period is no small feat.
So where does selling 8.4 million copies in one month put Activision’s latest FPS in the grand scale of things?
“With only one month of sales, it has become the 7th best-selling game of all time, life-to-date,” said NPD analyst Anita Frazier. “Black Ops accounted for 25% of all video game software units sold in the month of November.”
To put that into comparison, Black Ops has already outsold classics like Grand Theft Auto III, Tomb Raider, Mario Kart, Metal Gear Solid and Halo 3. After a mere 30-days!

Wow congrats activision and treyarch this is awsome! 33% the same statistic that player get to finish an game after it migrates host/looses connection 2 host! I’m no mathmatical wizz but you pocked and extra 33% profit over MW2 and you and the devs cannot find a way to fix the lagg/ host selection and migration? You may have out sold MW2 and other games but MW2′s host/migration servers make black ops look like crap. hope someone can fix this!

But on PS3 there are less times Host migration happens
I do agree though the lag is literally killing me. How many bullets do you have to shoot with a M60 to get a kill.

it only did this cause MW2 was so huge, i never had lag on MW2 but BO sucks so bad with lag and disconnection on PS3, and is even worse on PC hope they fix this, cause i find i cant be bothered to play BO anymore and just gone back to MW2

No one is crying you moron, were simply stateing the obvious! U may be happy playing a game that cost 60-150 buck. You may also be happy only being able to play half a game before getting kicked due to s**tty server but the rest of us are not! Your statement about the new patch fixing this indefinate problem is just you believing anything you hear, the last 2 patches that came our were supose to fix the problem! So go ahead and believe what you want to, the rest of us will believe it when we see it actualy happen.

In fact they had nothing to do with the lag only better host selection and for xbox this has been the case the xbox version is running smoothly at all times (for me at lest) and i’ve never had a problem with it so lucky me

yea the game is good, WHEN IT WORKS!! Do u know how frustrating it is to go thru a whole game of headquarters down to the last 10 points or a nearly full game of domination only to have a host migrate and drop connection? or for it to FREEZE MY DAMN PS3?? not to mention horrible lag issues, locale/locale only not working, and an outright HASSLE BEYOND MEASURE to organize party play. I swear some nights i spend more time getting in and out of our party lobbies then i do playing.
Its a SAD SAD PRODUCTION AND THEY KNOW IT.
This game is a failure. Infinity Ward FTMFW! Even since COD3 is has been VERY VERY CLEAR that Infinity Ward produces a better game. I hope Treyarch never gets the contract to produce another copy. I am in the process of printing the PlaystationNetwork forums thread on the OBVIOUS FAILURES of the development for ps3 and I am taking the GAME BACK TO GAMESTOP TODAY and getting my money back and going back to MW2/MW.
I have been patient, they have already done an update, why cant they fix these problems? They are obviously RAKING IN THE DOUGH!! PAY YOUR TEAM OVERTIME!
How about you fulfill your part Treyarch. In a rush to get it out on date… sad sad. Treyarch can drop off the face of the earth for all i care, it would less stressful for our gaming community.

I fail to see where this game is the 7th best-selling game of all time, life-to-date. Wikipedia ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_best-selling_video_games ) shows that there are many games (more than 6) that surpass 8.4 million sales. The Wii alone has 8 games with over 8.4 million sales. If someone could please direct me to the statistics that prove this game is the 7th best-selling game of all time, life-to-date, that would be swell.

yes and when the lag is fixed you’ll start complaining about something else. You will always be complaining about something, I’m just happy its so balanced compared to mw2. No overpowered gun or perk. The rcxd isnt that hard to avoid, and thats the only thing that might be considered cheap.

the new patch has helped my gameplay experience but i swear to god spots on this map that are considered sniping spots are easy accesable for any gun for someone to camp at. THIS FUSTRATES ME

truthfully this game is amazing, but has anyone felt like theres just something that mw2 had that this game didnt. to me its the maps. i meen just think about? these maps r horrible. can u really compare them to a favela,skidrow,scrapyard,terminal,or anyother mw2 to map.just saying.

Great job. Originally I was skeptical on the Black Ops but that all changed once I played.

mw2 opened the way for black ops.seeing it was a big hit, which made more people want to buy another cod witch was BO. the only thing i dont like about this game is the hit markers <3
