Call of Duty: Black Ops Combat Training Mode Explained
Among the plethora of new features that Treyarch are including in Call of Duty: Black Ops is something they are calling Combat Training. So what exactly is this new Combat Training Mode? A post appeared on CallofDuty.com today that lays out exactly what what you can expect from Black Ops’ new Training Mode.
Train. Train. Train. If you want to be the best, you’ve got to know your stuff – your maps, your equipment, and your abilities. Hesitate and you’re done for.
Welcome to the new Combat Training mode, soldiers. Strengthen your skills in Free-For-All or Team Deathmatch on any multiplayer map against a full set of Practice Dummies. Practice alone or train with other players online. The experience and currency you earn in Combat Training is saved separately from your online multiplayer soldier, but everything you unlock remains within the mode.
Combat Training is a great resource for all player levels.
New players and those typically interested only in single player can jump in to learn the basics of the multiplayer experience and get a feel for different loadouts. Familiarize yourself with the maps and evolve your fighting strategies before joining competitive play.
Veterans can use Combat Training to their advantage, as well. Work out new strategies and fine tune loadouts without affecting your kills/death ratio. Nail down formations and team chemistry with your clan, and choose the maps you need to work on to get a better sense of spawn points and player flow.

i got black ops i got to multiplayer and then to splitscreen and no edit custon game ive seen vids with it under game mode but its not there for me,do i have to beat the game on veteran or is it just a glitch??? please help cause i feel like a got this game for nothing!!

You can’t play combat training without an internet connection. I know it sucks =(
To access combat training you have to go to multiplayer, then online, then combat training.
If you want combat training made offline you should comment on the Black Ops forums.

Rubbish, I am married with kids, very good job and a very good social life, I enjoy playing with online mates and the games are made for adults, if it was not for the 30+ players you would not have such a decent game, (check the developers ages). What we cannot stand is mouthy little gits in there whiney prepubescent voices screeching in our ears all game.

people like you are the reason the gaming industry is so heavily regulated and isnt allowed the same freedoms as other forms of entertainment. ignorant people still see videogames the way they were seen decades ago, as a toy for children, but its evolved so far beyond that. this is also why so many little kids play games that are absolutely not intended for people their age, because stupid parents dont realize that not all videogames are for kids, some, like cod, are specificly made for older audiences (hence the 17+ rating that so many irresponsible parents choose to ignore).

Half of what you said didn’t make sense. And it’s the lippy little sh*ts who’s parents should keep an eye on what they’re doing who shouldn’t play. yeah but at the beginning of mw2 it give the option to skip out that mission. if they cant handle the so-called ‘gore’ then they should skip it. it also says at the beginning that if you dont skip it then you can go to the options menu in the single player part and skip it. age ratings do indeed fail, as in most cases there is an option or choice to turn down the gore. why should game companies get sued by some thick as sh*t single mum because her kid watched some guy get his head blown off in a game after looking at, but not reading, the message saying ‘THIS MISSION CONTAINS STRONG, BLOODY VIOLENCE. DO YOU WISH TO TURN THIS OFF? YES/NO’

You can level up in combat training and get new weapons perks and all that, but it’s separate from the multiplayer. You would still have to do it all again in the real multiplayer.

The main purpose is for everyone to play the multiplayer, online or offline. This way it can catch the attention of the offline players. Also, this would totally be good for Game Battles and even Clan matches. So, you can practive certain maps, routes, and tactics in objective gameplay. Also, create a map in Call of Duty would just be totally epic, but that could also set the game up to fail. Create a map, most of time, usually fails. Just saying. Anyways, like the thought of Combat Training.

MW was very cheap i mean GUN UMP 45 one of strongest guns unlocked level 1,comando :teleport when click knife button GUN :AA 12 better then every other shotgun FULLY AUTOMATIC considered sub machine gun,PERK something hand (dont remember) anyway pro has faster aiming—– quickscoping for snipers.grenade launcher with perk danger close mini tactical nuke or just grenade launcher still very cheap.Perk one man army: if you got one man army on each class well you got 5 or more guns to choose from and you get full ammo.oh no im out of ammo one man army… look at that full ammo.i mostly covered the cheap stuff in the game there is probly a but load more i dont know of but dont matter. ah but combat traning is perfect for people who have satelite internet like me. Good enough connection to connect to the playstation network, but not good enough to play online against real people. But yea having to be online to play it defeats the purpose of combat traning

Actually it doesn’t, it’s for people that are afraid to play with real players. It’s a middle ground, but not an offline experience. It could have decent offline, but with limited storage capacities the ai would be pretty limited and more predictable than they currently are. Eh, combat training is fun when you rage quit from the real experience. Between frequent noobs quitting and jacking up everyone’s game, to campaholics, combat training is a fun periodic change.
Sucks on veteran when sometimes the pc characters pull that 180 headshot, but eh it’s not difficult to stay positive on them.

Dont get me wrong, i hate those little whiney brats that play and scream/sing into their mic but not everyone under the age of 17 is like that. I do agree with most of the adults here in saying i prefer games where people use their mic the way they are supposed to – Strategy. But, not all kids have to be hated, just 75-90% of them are annoying brats.

The Training mode is cool, it does allow you to get used to maps and guns and stuff. But i had no idea that i was playing against other human opponents online!! I’m playing this game for the first time, but thinking it was only AI i chose veteran (‘i mean AI are just dumb right’). only to get my but kicked repeatedly…. Wish i had found this article before i ventured into no mans land. Never have i been so humiliated in a call of duty TDM lol.

Okay guys am gonna break this down in steps. For those of you who prefer offline multiplayer and want combat training offline heres how.
First off ask a friend or family member who has access to the internet
Second, once connected signup to either xbox live or psn using your email address. Once signed up and logged in. Insert the game disc into the console and load it up. You will see that an update is acquired download it to the hdd. The game will or may restart. Load up multiplayer and select local then splitscreen. Under splitscreen select edit game options from there you can add how many friends or enemies you want to play with. This will only work with Team Deathmatch or Free for All. You cant play in other game modes such as SND or domination. Anways happy gaming all.

The combat training dummies are ridiculously campy and aim down the sights every time they turn a corner. Ill make my way to a sniping spot and as soon as i sit down im picked off by an enemy who somehow figured out that i was there without the enemy having radar, me firing a shot, and i was out of hearing range, so there was no f**king way he couldve known i was there without seeing me, and as i said he was engaged with another target when he suddenly swept up, still spraying bullets everywhere, and shot me.
