Treyarch Dev Confirms Call of Duty: Black Ops Dedicated Servers

Speaking in this months PC Zone magazine, Treyarch studio head Mark Lamia confirmed that the PC version of Call of Duty: Black Ops, unlike Modern Warfare 2, will feature dedicated servers.
“I think dedicated servers are excellent. I don’t see any reason not to see them unless… well, I just don’t see any reason not to. It seems people like them and we’re excited about what we’re doing right now.”
He explains further: “We do work very hard to reconcile the desire to manipulate and modify those dedicated servers with offering them the persistent experience and benefits that the console system provides.
“We’re working very hard to marry those two things, so people can run dedicated servers and also participate in the communal experience the console players get to have, given they’re all on first-party servers.”

The dedicated servers are good , but you wouldn’t be able to play ALL cod 7 maps, you will if you create an server, (everyone plays only the best maps).

seeing this makes me sad, because when MW2 came out, I joined my friends on console… I just can’t go back to the dedicated servers now

The PC matchmaking system should have the COD1 untill COD5 matchmaking type !!!AND!!! the MW2/ console type (upgrade for it needed) of matchmaking, so you can either play with your friends, mod and map and have a fun time or automatically join a running game which always fills up and which has the common treyarch maps
also the PC world really wants to be able to make their own fun mods (like in cod1-5) and make their own maps. this is very fun and it also teaches you alot
