Black Ops Perks Ideas

The ‘perks’ in Call of Duty’s multiplayer are modifiers that passively affect gameplay, allowing further customization of classes giving you added abilities. Perks have become an integral part of Call of Duty games since being introduced in Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare. You have ridiculously over-powered perks like Commando (Modern Warfare 2,) relatively useless perks like Eavesdrop (Call of Duty: 4) and staples like Stopping Power.

Considering the develpers like to bring new perks to the table with each new release, what have we got to look forward to with Call of Duty: Black Ops’ perks? We want you to get your thinking caps on because we want to know what ideas you’ve got for brand new perks for Black Ops? What perks from previous Call of Duty games would you like to see left out? And what perks would you say are essential?

    Perhaps if they do keep commando, or other knife upgrades they good bring out a better type of armor that may count as an equipment/perk (not riot shield) that can make melee attacks not as effective.

    They should make perks that utilize their surroundings. Like for instance a perk that allows you to climb trees, instead of going by them and staying on the ground you can be up off the ground. Another perk that would utilize the terrain is a perk that allows you to swim or dive in water/swimsuit, if there is water in any maps they make. Also in Black Ops it would be usefull if you could have tree stands or the ones you put on the ground. Instead of focusing on perks that help your weapons and explosives they really should have perks that help you with your surroundings like some suggestions I made earlier. It really is a shame that developers are more concerned about making perks that help the gun and player itself such as(Stopping Power & Dead Silence) but who am I to talk about what people want in a game, they are obviously successful with the millions that they make and their fan base. I just regret that you really dont have that experience where you really feel like your in the game, yeah its fun dont get me wrong but I think people overlook the area that they play in and instead dont take advantage of it. Just my opinion nobody has to agree with it. Treyarch I really think that if you could utilize the terrain you are in, you dont even have to agree with the things that I mentioned but just put forth some effort to do so I believe that it make the playing experience just that much better, thanks for bearing with me!

      Sabotage perk
      (If they included scavenger in this game) Enemy resupplys from your dead corpse, your ammunition is booby trapped. Your magazines have cartridges that have gunpowder replaced by high explosive. Would be fun to spectate when enemy pulls the trigger :) This was actually used for real, so it isn’t too far fetched.

        They should put in scavenger, take out greater lunge distance.
        Put it so lightweight and marathon can not be used at the same time its either ONE OR THE OTHER.
        The ability to blend perks like scavenger and bling but it replaces a perk level.
        Stopping power, faster reloading, cold blooded is a must so is ninja.

      they should make it so that there is to pros for every perk like slight of has quick ADS as pro 1 but then they should come up with something you get after but make it like 1000 kills or something.

      cuz like some pros on MW2 were just stupid like hardline pro 1 less death o get ur deathstreak i mean come who wants that. marathon pro should be light weight and then the second one could be quick aim after sprinting or something.

      hello people im thinking that there shouldint be any perks that make people kill you slower[jugganaut].Some guns kill slow enoph, adding a perk like that makes the same effect as painkillers, and whats the point to not die sometimes, that deosent effect you it clearly effects the person that should have gotten his kill.To make the game more proish make it so there is no stoping power. Nither should deathstreaks ruin the game [painkillers,mardidome,final stand, last stand has the same efect!]. Final stand and last stand resolts in peaple falling down on the ground and killing you when you clearly outgunned the other player! Those perks ruin the game because you will always be killed by a final stand ,painkiller or mardidome,yes thats realy nice peaple doing bad get a boost but the wrong kind! A perk leting you have the class of someone els is good for deathstreaks[copie cat].[Hard line] would be another one of those good deathstreaks, makeing it a little easyer for those bad players to get there killstreaks. Having stoping power is not what we want in this game because that means that there is no advantage to being good at using guns with recoil.Commando…. never again!!! Thats all i have to say about Commando. OneManArmy o my god no!! And scavenger changed it gives you double the amunition and also lets you pick up sp.grenads and equipment like in modern warfare 2 but what is not like modern warfare 2 is that you cant pickup extra amo.This is realy good because peaple wont run around the whole game with one wepon!! Trust me i know im one of them. Scarh, spas,scavenger stoping power and steady aim. Steady aim, peaple with steady aim will hipfire better and also aimdown there sight and have better accuracy, less reacole.This is the stoping power of the game, but peaple need skill still because there not killing faster now there getting a boust to aim.Theyl have to not let the steady aim not be to overpowerd,this is because peaple will take the gun with alot of recole and not have eny because of steady aim and kill quick.Thanks alot and plez send me a messege on youtube of your ideas. im doublejib on youtube seea!!!

    they should keep the pro for perks like commando keep the no falling damage and get rid of the long ass melee distance don’t put in the pill and oma make it so that u can change classes without noobtoob they should keep scavenger because if they noobtube u they have to go find the extra ammo

      with the long distance instead make it faster but with falling long distances dont make it where you fall of a skyscraper and not being affected make it like where he at least does a sommersault or something to that affect like a smaller building make him do a little crouch maneuver thing and keep marathon and the other running one

    i think that painkiller should stay BUT
    1. it is the only deathstreak
    2. it slows the player down OR distorts their vision (like a stun)
    3. head shots are 1HK
    4. maybe they are only allowed a pistol during that SHORT period of time

    it would be cool if you could choose all perks to ll places, i miss that at mw2 i when there is nothing good at perk 2 and 2 good things at perk 1 that i need both and cant decide. its so anoying. and also it would be cool if you could change the pro verion of the perks so you can choose any perk and any pro version so i can have commando and steady aim pro. that would be cool. aaaaaAND ALSO: please make no granade launcher for the weapons its aweful. its a gun war not a granade war.

    Instead: Lightweight mixes the normal and pro versions of the perk from MW2 and the new pro version is no fall damage.

      If you lie down and tap switch weapon button repetitively you appear dead anyway, so cold blooded pro add that makes you appear dead lol

      Thats overpowered, its sone thing to play search and double tap ‘y’ but to be aiming down ur sights and appear totally dead is rigged.
      My ideas
      If commando is put in, it should be that if they have been shot in last 1/4 sec or so the perk is negated.
      I think there should be a way to disable traps and whatnot without having to shoot them/make noise, maybe a pro version of sitrep.
      Another perk could be like video camera or something. You can mount a camera to a wall and it’ll show u it in a small screen about size of uav radar on your HUD.

        Not a perk but it would be great if they could make one visual appearance altered (ie flags/helmet or no helmet etc) as well I think they could make some more cool gun cammo’s, have them not go to 0 after prestige but just make them higher # of hits.

      Why do you say ‘we’? This is your personal opinion. Just because it gets used against you doesn’t mean it shouldn’t be in the game. Other people like using it. Why don’t you make a game where nobody can kill you? There’s no point changing so much otherwise it won’t be Call of Duty anymore.

            That is the stupidest thing ever. The reason they regionally put in juggernaut was to counter stopping power. When some one has jugs and you have stopping power, your gun is average power. Suck it up and shoot the extra bullet.

            Yes, but the difference is that its a perk that helps you sponge, So 1 shot kill guns Eg. bolt action snipers cant kill in a shot, and people can survive numerous people shooting at them and usually leads to the person who shot them first missing out on his/her kill. Down to someone stealing it because he can take a stupid amount of bullets.

          stopping power and jug is gay when you pour 100 bullets into a guy he should die if anything they keep it change it to where he has more armor and he runs a little slower that would help cause this guy can just take a full clip no the armor at least

      Tier 1 – Shell Shocker – immune to explosives – Rapid Fire – Increase the fire rate of any gun by 10% – Tier 2 – One Shot – One shot kills on all sniper rifles – Stopping Power – more bullet damage – Stealth – No sound on any weopons or grenades – Tier 3 – Secondary – Secendary weopon damage increase by 5% – Karate – Knife is longer and faster

        The stealth thing would be better as a Dead Silence Pro Esque thing if your gun doesn’t have a silencer/Flash Suppressor then i can hear the thing shooting, also if someone knows how to legitimately Silence a shotgun please tell me i would love being able to hunt with a silencer

      I agree with some of your ideas but i think that they should bring back 2 claymores as a perk and take out a stupid perk like danger close cuz it is not even possible to make ur noobtube stringer then my noobtube just cuz ur using that perk is they wanna play it like that they should put a grenade attachmet that u get at a high level that is stornger then the reg grenade attachment.

    they should have sleight of hand but make faster ads as just normal scoping in so like for example in mw2 u could use scavenger or marathon and could still quick scope the same.

    take out stopping power and use fmj attachment as stopping power. this would allow us to use cold blooded and lightweight sort of perks in the same categorie as stopping power without losing the guns damage by like 50%.

      well the whole idea of a limited amount of perks (3) is that your player isn’t way overpowered. If they included the quicker ads normally then the quick scope snipers would be way over powered. @flyinmonkeyhunter Just like if they combined the effects of lightweight and lightweight pro as the normal perk and made the pro add-on no falling damage. That would just be ridiculous.

      I do in fact like the stopping power point. I always have stopping power on, ALWAYS, but I think they should just make it an attachment like fmj, but also not give the stopping power effect to everybody because they get rid of it.

    Alright, first off I haven’t read through the other posts. So bare with me and just hear me out. And I know it might be too late to add new perks.

    I loved pro perks…it gave players a reason to use different perks. As far as perks I think would be awesome for BO’s would be a Fast Swap perk. Where the perk lets you switch to your secondary quicker. Another idea I like would be a Double-Up perk, where the perk allows you to use two perks from the same tier, but sacrifices one other perk from the two other choices. For example in MW2 you could have Sleight of Hand, Bling, and Ninja. See what I mean? You lose out on another tier. Any positive feedback is greatly appreciated.

      I agree with the Double-Up perk! thats a very awesome idea. But I think Treyarch should put Sleight of Hand back into a 2nd tier perk instead of a 1st tier perk, it gives players the chance to use Marathon, Sleight of Hand, and Dead Silence/Ninja.

    Ok, here it is, take out commando, grenade launchers or at least make them take out tier 1 of perks so they cant use scavenger, OMA etc. Also take out commando and last stand, or at least give they guy they put him into the stand get the points for the kill. There, perfect game.

    Overkill… it was the biggest letdown of MW2… base the multiplayer on WaW, MW2 was rubbish. Have it also when u prestige u unlock more guns and perks to give a real reason to prestige.

      YES! please bring back OVERKILL! overkill was a big hit to Modern Warfare 1, alot of people I have talk to on MW2 and MW1 wished that Infinity Ward brought back Overkill and also Juggernaunt to MW2. It’s stupid and rediculous that they didnt do that in my opinion and others.

    Ok first post from moi here so bare with me guys, don’t start a rant just because you don’t agree with me. To start off I have a list of stuff that should and should not be in Black Ops (only my opinion).

    1. No commando AT ALL, so un-realistic.
    2. Keep Ninja/Pro, exactly dead silence yet turtle beaches partly defy this, Sitrep Pro is so much more skilled as with turtle beaches you cannot hear enemy footsteps at all.

    3. Keep Camouflage/Cold-Blooded.
    4. Keep Fireworks/Danger Close.
    5. Keep Sleight of Hand, only the pro part as again it looks so unrealistic reloading a whole sniper magazine in a nano second.

    6. Take away Marathon as it’s not part of nature to run an unlimited time around a map without stopping, but keep lightweight because you get some slow and some fast people.

    7. Take out Last Stand and Final Stand (those are bs).
    8. Replace the normal Scavenger P-ro with the WaW Classic perk; Bandolier.

        because when i get this game and when i spawn in im not trying to get bombarder with them most overpowered f**king submachine gun in the game and on top of that let them fly around the f**king map faster than a car.

        AA12 extended mags
        semtex/stuns
        Perk1 Marthon
        Perk2 Stopping power
        Perk3 Ninja/steady aim

        there are like 5-6 people in the same game with this same type of class and im sick of seeing it.

        @U Lame I agree. Marathon is an awesome perk, I always use it, but I find even myself that its too good sometimes. At the beginning of any game you can just run around the outside edge of the map and go behind their whole team where everyone just charges up the middle. Also I think more people are complaining about the marathon/lightweight/commando than just marathon. If marathon was gone their whole operation would be screwed.
        I think the perk should return back to extreme conditioning. I think that was very balanced for a perk.

    get rid of commando and danger close
    make ninja/dead silence make your footsteps 100% silent not just 75% like in mw2 and no ankle breaking noise when you fall either
    keep one man army but you cant have noob tube attachments with
    keep marathon and lightweight
    give most guns more ammo (not larger clips) because you cant just rely on picking up other weapons when you run out of ammo so were not forced to rely on scavenger

    - Removing stopping power
    - OR bring back Juggernaut. That was the only thing which balanced out that annoyingly over powered perk
    - OR Lock stopping power at say… Level 15.
    - OR Make it an attachment for snipers, kind of like FMJ, but actually useful.
    - Bring back double tap
    - OR make every gun have rapid fire. That is a such a good perk, and SMG’s don’t need increased firerate
    -Make Tubes take up f***king first perk again, then they can keep OMA and Scavenger, and the little B*****s can keep there precious noob tubes.
    -Remove the Commando from the Commando Pro, keep the no falling damage.
    -If there is going to be land support, bring back reconnaissance. Helps knowing were dogs/tanks/artillery is.
    - Keep the game call of duty. I’m seeing so many perk ideas that aren’t call of duty.
    - Bring back Cold Blooded if there’s going to customizable kill streaks. That just SCREAMS a freakish amount of air support.

    What i would like is a perk that allows you to customize your player, or something like once you get 5-10th presteige you unlock this perk, because say you have a big fat dude as a player right? hes slow but if you walk on a sniper that is being so stealthly you dont notice he gets crushed like a TANK!!!RAWRHH and or say you have this really skinneh duude right? your like the FLASH! -Vmmmmm- lol its just something i would like in the game i hate how all the players looks are the same.

    I think the power of certain things in the game needs to be drastically reduced. Here are a few suggestions:

    Death Streaks:
    Get rid of them entirely!

    Grenade Launchers:
    -Should never be the first weapon attachment to be unlocked. I think the Red Dot should be the first, and the Grenade Launcher should be one of the last.
    -Either the actual explosion of the grenade should be less powerful or it should me harder to aim. (Something in between the Hardcore aiming system and the current normal aiming).

    Akimbo Weapons:
    I think that the Akimbo is a good idea for some weapons, and can be fun to use, if a bit unrealistic. Here are a few suggestions:
    -No more Akimbo Shotguns. No one can actually fire, never mind reload, two shotguns at once.
    -Reloading needs to be slower. If you are getting the benefits of using two weapons at once, it’s gotta take a lot longer to reload.
    -No knifing with Akimbo weapons. I watched a killcam of some guy with Akimbo Shotguns fire both shots, miss, then whip out his knife and kill someone. That doesn’t make much sense, unless you literally drop the weapon.

    Camping:
    Obviously camping is a regrettably integral part of the game. You can’t really stop people from camping, but you can make it slightly more realistic. Even trained soldiers who stare down the end of their rifles for too long get eye fatigue, and it becomes harder and harder to retain focus. Why not make someone who stays in the same spot for a prolonged amount of time get eye or muscle fatigue? Maybe make the screen slightly blur for a second or two, or make it so that it takes an extra second to stand up or sprint after staying relatively still for a certain amount of time.

    Perks:
    Great:
    -Stopping Power
    -Cold Blooded
    -Scavenger (Pro is great, although i think each player should start with a few more magazines)
    -Sleight of Hand (Pro is great, but it may make the game fairer if a second perk were created to include quick aiming and quick weapon swap)
    -Marathon
    -Silent Footsteps/Ninja (Since their are hopefully no more Heartbeat Sensors in Black Ops, the regular perk should be silent footsteps and the pro should be no falling damage)

    Bad Perks:
    -Commando
    -Danger Close (Though I do like Danger Close Pro)
    -Juggernaut

    New Perks:
    -”Double Down”: Lets you choose two from one group of perks, but none from the other two. So you essentially sacrifice your third perk to get two from one group
    -”Hops”: lets you jump a little higher, and climb higher obstacles, (pro lets you climb them quicker)
    -A perk that makes close enemy gunfire, footsteps and melees louder

      Nice list.
      Everybody seems to agree on the death streaks not coming back.
      Making grenade launchers one of the last attachments to unlock would be a good way to tone it down. Whenever you start using a gun it’s the only attachment you have so you’re obviously going to use it. Also I think they should take out danger close, it only promotes the use of grenade launchers and other launchers by making them overpowered.
      Akimbo pistols would be the only thing that makes sense to me at all. No others, especially shotguns. And as for the melee, I think it’d be cool to make the akimbo melee just hit them with your gun and take down half of your health. Seems fair.
      Not a fan of double down only because they have a perk 1,2,3 set up for a reason. If they would add a double down perk why not just choose 3 perks from a list of 15?
      As for your new perk to make footsteps louder, I’d say to make that reconnaissance’s pro add-on. I really think they’ll put that perk in because of the vehicles and that crazy exploding RC car thing.

    how about a multi unlock perk system like ninja unlocks ninja pro then it unlocks cold blooded then cold blooded pro, then sit rep. or like stopping power-pro-danger close-pro-hardline-pro then you basically have like lightweight-marathon-commando pro (no knifing boost)

    also how about a killstreak system that allows multiple of 1 reward like 3-uav-6-uav-9-uav or something like that

      I like the killstreak idea. But what I think they should do is make a perk to reset your killstreak rewards after you’ve gotten your last one. Say I was using a 3,4,5 killstreak set, this perk would give me my killstreak rewards again at 8,9,10 and at 13,14,15 or with 3,5,7 it would repeat at 10,12,14.

    I think Call of Duty:Black Ops should go into a different direction with the use of perks (compared to the other games in the Call of Duty series). I think it should have a Tier 4 (yellow would be good), which allows you to do something special with your selected killstreaks. Here are some examples….

    Hardline (as in Call of Duty:Modern Warfare 2;consider a new name for this perk): Requires one less kill for killstreak rewards.

    Handy Man: Allows you to fully control a Chopper Killstreak (eg. Hind showed in E3 demo) by using the left analog thumbstick to move around/fly chopper, right analog stick to aim. This way you don’t follow the same path over and over again as in COD6:MW2, where sometimes, buildings are in your way and you can’t get the enemies.

    Explosive Ordnance (acts as Danger Close Pro as in COD6:MW2): Increased explosive damage only for killstreaks.

    Hijacker: Steal enemy crates/teamates crates faster.

    Unstoppable: Allows you to equip 4 killstreak rewards, but you must take off one Tier (either from red,green,blue)in order to use this perk.

    WTF!: Enemy launchers cannot lock on to any of your killstreaks.
    *NOTE* If COD7:Black Ops has something like a Stinger (in MW2), that can only be used to destroy enemy killstreaks, this would be a useful perk. If Black Ops doesn”t incluse any lock-on launchers, then don’t include this perk.

    Safe and Sound: Gives your Chopper an extra set of flares (2 in total).

    *NOTE* When I put “Chopper”, that meant any killstreak that is controllable. Whether it be a Hind, or a C-130.

    Can everyone please rate thumbs up (green), so the Black Ops workers may see this and consider using these killstreaks.

      It seems that all your suggestions revolve around vehicles. If you were too include these perks you would DEFINITELY need something destroy the “killstreak.” And I might add that adding the WTF! perk (lol) and Explosive Ordnace, as well as the killstreak power-up, everything would be overpowered. The ability to control and fire the chopper would encourage spawn-killing, unless the spawn system will be fixed……

        No not all revolve around vehicles. Take “Hijacker” for example. Also, with so many good perks to choose from, there will be good counter-perks that Treyarch might possibly include. Here’s an example of how these might not be over-powered perks.

        Everyone might want to fully controll their Chopper (“Handy Man”), but how could you choose between having an extra set of flares with “Safe and Sound” (therefore staying in your Chopper longer). Also, increased explosive damage (“Explosive Ordnance”) means they’re easier to kill. These are hard to choose between.

        Treyarch might put a twist and make these perks not Tier 4, but may take a few and put them in one of the other Tier’s(red,green,blue), therefore eliminating a 4th Tier.

    Perks- I think there should be a perk like ninja pro or dead silence but it also causes a small buzzing noise that would be picked up my turtle beaches.This would allow the person that had it on, to not be heard by turtle beaches but its also like scrambler so the buzzing noise could also lead a person right to you (downside).

    Stopping power- I think stopping power should only help like really low damage guns…pistols and some sub machine guns etc.

    Grenade launchers- I think if you reload to fast and try to shoot right then….the gun jams and your character will have to reload the grenade or the grenade would explode…this will cause people not to be noobie with it, no offence.

    Sniper rifles- thermal…..fun but gay…..sniper rifles should be one hit kills get shoot in the arm… automatic final stand….this is because when some is running at you and you have bolt action you can only get one hit unlike an automatic sniper rifle s you hit someone

    1.They should have a perk that lowers recoil for your weapons.

    2.Dont get rid of marathon, that would just be stupid if they did.

    3.A “play dead” perk would be would be stupid, u would walk aroud shooting dead bodys to be safe.

    4.Get rid of cammando, but have no falling damage as a perk, or pro for a different perk.

    5.Noobtubes should be very inaccurate, and sometimes shoots duds.

    6.The longer you stay in one place, the longer your shots stay on the radar, that way it helps get rid of campers.

    Kamikaze perk: Take up all 3 perk slots and both main weapons.. but increases your speed by x2 and unlimited sprinting and higher jumping also more endurance then you get equipped with dynamite strapped to your chest but its covered by steel plating for armor and shrapnel when you explode. When you press the fire button your screen turns all red and pulsing and increases you speed by x3 but.. you light the dynamite and have 10 seconds to get to your target or if you get their early press the fire button again **BOOM**

          Anyone ever think of Juggernaut game mode with the Juggernaut as the Juggernaut? If you know what i mean, its a Free for all game mode but a random player is chosen to be the Juggernaut and is really powerful (its damage recovers slowly) but its red dot is blue and always shows up, so then everyone goes after the Jugg while fighting everyone else if you kill him you are now the Juggernaut. The longer your the Juggernaut the more points you get as a individual at the end of the game the person with the most points win!

    Maybe a perk to switch weapons faster (shottys and launchers for example).

    -overkill is a yes ( i havnt played mw1 much so idk much bout it really but i beleive thats the 2 primary weapons one, i dontk nw what the pro version was but id like to be able to use 2 equipment like a throwing knife and semtex in the same class, so that could be an idea)
    -i like marathon, i think it gets boring at times not having a class that can move fast a lot
    -yes ive always thought a perk that you could pick 2 from one group but sacrificing another is a good idea

    -perk or deathstreak-eye for an eye- a small some of damage dealt to you is deflected back at the shooter ( eg 25%, dont want too much, may exclude certain weapons and not killstreaks)
    -human shields- use dead or near dead poeple as shields
    -not really sure how it could work but somesort of perk were you can use different things to make an explosive (if you had no ammo or something) by using guns from dead ppland grenades or things in the environment you might find, eg a microwave in a house somewhere
    - grappling hooks would be really good for the game to climb on a roof or whatever

    I think juggernaut was a good idea. You have stopping power to counter it. The only thing they messed up with juggernaut was that snipers were not 1 shot kill when they had juggernaut, sometimes even without juggernaut.

    - cuncusive helmet – immune to flash/stun grenades/more resistance to explosives.
    sitrep – can see enemy explosives
    - quicker aim down sight

    if they have pros for perks then have a double jump perk and the challenge would be double jump 300 times and the pro would be no fall damage or the base perk and pro perk could be reversed (no fall damage challenge could be withstand about 2000 falling damage)you could call it scout (tf2 reference) or if no fall damage is base perk you could call it base jumper

    Perks like stopping power, danger close, steady aim, deep impact etc. that help your gun, should all be weapon attachments.

    This would have to go along with a bling perk that gives you 2 weapon attachments, and a pro that would give you 3 primary weapon attachments.

    This would give people the ability to have a weapon with red dot, silencer, and say stopping power on you gun, which would open up many perk slots in which to add more and new perks to give the game a little more variety!
